Can you buy an alternator at AutoZone?

An alternator is a device that generates alternating current (AC) by electromechanical means. It is a type of electrical generator that converts mechanical energy to electrical energy in the form of alternating current.

The principle of operation of an alternator is similar to that of a DC generator. The armature winding of the alternator is on the stator, while the field winding is on the rotor.

When the engine is running, the alternator belt drives the rotor to rotate. This rotation produces a magnetic field in the air gap between the stator and rotor. The stator winding is connected to an external circuit, and as the magnetic field rotates, it induces an AC voltage in the stator winding.

AutoZone does not sell alternators.
