In June 2015, it was announced that Albertsons would be acquiring Safeway Inc. for $9.2 billion. The acquisition was completed in January 2015, and the combined company became known as Albertsons Companies Inc.

In September 2018, it was announced that Albertsons would be acquiring Plated for $200 million. Plated is a meal-kit company that delivers ingredients and recipes to customers’ homes.

In March 2019, it was announced that Albertsons would be acquiring Lucky’s Market for $22 million. Lucky’s Market is a Colorado-based grocery chain with stores in 23 states.
