We compared the prices of a basket of common grocery items at both Aldi and Walmart. The items we chose were: bread, milk, eggs, chicken breasts, bananas, and toilet paper. We found that Aldi was cheaper than Walmart by about 20%.
Aldi’s prices were lower across the board. For example, a loaf of bread cost $0.79 at Aldi, while it cost $0.98 at Walmart.
A gallon of milk cost $1.19 at Aldi, while it cost $1.36 at Walmart. A dozen eggs cost $0.89 at Aldi, while they cost $0.97 at Walmart.
The only exception was toilet paper, where Walmart was slightly cheaper than Aldi. However, this difference was only a few cents, so overall Aldi was still the cheaper option.
If you’re looking to save money on your grocery bill, then shopping at Aldi is a good choice. You can expect to save about 20% compared to shopping at Walmart.
