Is Jewel-Osco owned by Safeway?

There has been some confusion regarding the ownership of Jewel-Osco, with some believing that the grocery store chain is owned by Safeway. However, this is not the case. Jewel-Osco is actually owned by Albertsons, which is itself owned by Cerberus Capital Management.

So why the confusion Well, it may have something to do with the fact that Safeway used to own Jewel-Osco. The chain was sold to Albertsons in 2005 for $3.3 billion.

Since then, Jewel-Osco has continued to operate as a separate entity under the Albertsons banner. So while it is true that Safeway once owned Jewel-Osco, the store is now firmly under the Albertsons umbrella.

In conclusion, Jewel-Osco is not currently owned by Safeway. The grocery store chain is actually owned by Albertsons, which itself is owned by Cerberus Capital Management.
