Is TJ Maxx still in business?

TJ Maxx is an American department store chain, selling at prices generally lower than other major similar stores. It has more than 1,000 stores in the United States and Puerto Rico, making it one of the largest clothing retailers in the country. The company is part of the TJX Companies, which also owns HomeGoods/HomeSense, Sierra Trading Post, and Marshalls.

TJ Maxx was founded in 1976 by Bernard Cammarata, as a division of Zayre, a now-defunct discount department store chain. The first store opened in Framingham, Massachusetts.

TJX Companies acquired TJ Maxx in 1994.

The company offers a wide variety of merchandise, including apparel for women, men, and children; shoes; home fashions, such as bedding, kitchen supplies, small appliances, and home decor; and beauty products. TJ Maxx also sells online through its website tjmaxx.com.

In 2017, TJX announced that it would be opening more than 100 new stores across the United States. The company also plans to remodel about 100 existing stores each year.

Despite rumors to the contrary, TJ Maxx is still very much in business and does not appear to be going anywhere anytime soon.
