Is True Value Hardware the same as Ace Hardware?

There’s a lot to love about True Value hardware stores. They’re small, family-owned businesses that offer excellent customer service, competitive prices, and a wide selection of hardware and home improvement items. But is True Value the same as Ace Hardware?

The short answer is no, True Value is not the same as Ace Hardware. Here’s a closer look at the two hardware store chains:

True Value was founded in 1948 and is headquartered in Chicago, IL. The company has more than 4,000 locations across the United States.

Ace Hardware, on the other hand, was founded in 1924 and is headquartered in Oak Brook, IL. Ace Hardware has more than 5,000 locations worldwide.

One of the biggest differences between True Value and Ace Hardware is that True Value is a cooperative. This means that each True Value store is independently owned and operated.

Ace Hardware, on the other hand, is a franchise. This means that each Ace Hardware store is owned by an individual franchisee who pays a fee to Ace Hardware Corporation.

Another difference between True Value and Ace Hardware is the merchandise they sell. While both stores sell hardware and home improvement items, True Value also sells lawn and garden items, pet supplies, and housewares. Ace Hardware does not sell these additional items.

So, while True Value and Ace Hardware are both great places to buy hardware and home improvement items, there are some significant differences between the two stores.
