Kohl’s is discontinuing a number of brands in an effort to focus on its more profitable lines.
The retailer is phasing out several lines, including American Rag, Croft & Barrow, Elle Contemporary, Jennifer Lopez, Juicy Couture, Levi’s Red Tab, Liz Claiborne New York, Mudd jeans, Rocawear and Simply Vera by Vera Wang.
Kohl’s will instead focus on its private label brands, which include Apt. 9, Croft & Barrow Classics, Jumping Beans and SO.
The move comes as Kohl’s looks to streamline its operations and boost profits.
The retailer has been struggling in recent years as sales have stagnated and competition from online retailers has intensified.
Kohl’s has been working to revitalize its image and attract younger shoppers. Earlier this year, the retailer announced that it would start selling a line of plus-size clothing from Ashley Stewart. It has also been testing a new store concept that features a more modern design and a curated selection of merchandise.
