The Regional Processing and Analysis Center (RPAC) is a facility operated by the United States Postal Service in Shenandoah, Virginia, as part of its Domestic Mailprocessing Operations. The RPAC is the largest and busiest facility of its kind in the world.
The RPAC receives and processes mail destined for the nation’s 48 contiguous states and the District of Columbia. Mail sent to or from any of the other states or the District of Columbia is sent to one of the USPS’s 49 other processing facilities.
Mail sent to or from foreign countries is sent to the USPS’s international mail processing facilities.
The RPAC opened on October 1, 1998, and at the time it was the largest and busiest facility of its kind in the world. As of fiscal year 2010, the RPAC processed over 232 million pieces of mail and was responsible for generating an annual economic impact of more than $2.
5 billion.
