Asda is one of the largest supermarket chains in the United Kingdom. It has over 600 stores across the country, ranging in size from small local convenience stores to huge out-of-town hypermarkets.
Asda’s biggest store is its hypermarket in Leeds, which covers a massive 65,000 square feet. This is followed by its store in Hull, which is just over 60,000 square feet. Other large Asda stores can be found in Birmingham, Glasgow and Manchester.
Asda is continuing to open new stores and expand existing ones across the UK. In recent years it has opened several new ‘supercentres’, which are even larger than its hypermarkets and offer a wider range of products and services.
Asda is clearly a major player in the UK supermarket sector and its store portfolio reflects this. The vast majority of its stores are large format outlets, with a strong presence in both urban and rural areas.
