Who owns Hobby Lobby?

Hobby Lobby is an American arts and crafts retail chain with over 750 stores across the United States. The company was founded in 1972 by David Green and is currently owned by him and his family. Green’s wife, Barbara, is the company’s President and CEO.

The chain Hobby Lobby is owned by the Greens, a devout Christian family. While the company does have a board of directors, the Greens are the majority shareholders and have voting control of the company.

This means that they can make decisions about the company that may be based on their personal religious beliefs. For example, in 2012, the Supreme Court ruled that Hobby Lobby could not be required to provide its employees with health insurance that included contraception coverage, because doing so would violate the Greens’ religious beliefs.

While some may disagree with the way that the Greens run their business, they are within their legal rights to do so. And as long as they continue to turn a profit, it is unlikely that anyone will try to force them to change their policies.
