Is Walmart paying $15 an hour?

In February, Walmart raised its starting hourly wage to $11. The move was widely seen as an effort to keep pace with Amazon, which had recently announced plans to pay all its employees at least $15 an hour. But Walmart is still lagging behind its rival when it comes to hourly pay.

At $11 an hour, a full-time Walmart employee would earn about $18,700 a year. That’s less than the $20,000 a year that a full-time Amazon employee would make at $15 an hour.

In addition to being behind Amazon in terms of hourly pay, Walmart is also falling behind other retailers. Target, for example, raised its minimum wage to $15 an hour last year. Costco and BJ’s Wholesale Club both pay their employees at least $13 an hour.

So why isn’t Walmart paying its employees more?

One reason may be that Walmart is trying to keep costs down in order to compete with Amazon on price. Another reason may be that Walmart has been slow to raise wages in the past and is now playing catch-up. Whatever the reason, it’s clear that Walmart needs to do more to compete with its rivals on pay.

It’s time for Walmart to raise its starting hourly wage to $15 an hour. Doing so would not only be good for Walmart’s employees, it would also be good for the company’s bottom line. Higher wages would lead to lower turnover and higher productivity, and that would save Walmart money in the long run.

It’s time for Walmart to catch up with its rivals on pay. Raising its starting hourly wage to $15 an hour would be good for the company and its employees. Is Walmart paying $15 an hour? At this time, they are not.

They are lagging behind other companies such as Amazon and Target who have made the switch recently. This article argues that it’s time for them to do so as well!
