Is Walmart the same as Asda?

Asda and Walmart are two giant retailers that operate in the United Kingdom and the United States respectively. Both companies have a long history, dating back to the early 20th century.

Both companies are known for their low prices and their large selection of merchandise. However, there are some key differences between the two retailers.

For one, Walmart is much larger than Asda. Walmart has over 11,000 stores in 27 countries, while Asda has just over 600 stores in the UK. This means that Walmart has a much larger footprint than Asda.

Another key difference is that Walmart is a publicly traded company, while Asda is owned by the private equity firm Advent International. This means that Walmart is answerable to its shareholders, while Asda does not have to answer to anyone but its owner.

Finally, Walmart has been embroiled in a number of controversies over the years, while Asda has largely avoided such problems. These controversies include allegations of sweatshop labour, environmental damage, and bribery.

So, while both Asda and Walmart are large retailers with low prices, there are some key differences between the two companies.
