Rivian, formerly known as TeslaRivian, is a $2 billion startup backed by Amazon. The company has developed a self-driving electric truck technology. Rivian has stated that it will not be owned by Amazon, but it is unclear if that is really the case.
Amazon has a history of acquiring companies and then using them to further its own interests. If Amazon does indeed own Rivian, it would give the company a strong foothold in the self-driving truck market.
