A recent article in the New York Times posed the question, “Is Sierra part of TJ Maxx?” The answer, according to the article, is no. Sierra is a separate company that operates its own stores. However, the two companies do have some similarities.
Both are off-price retailers that sell discounted merchandise. And both are part of the same parent company, TJX Companies.
So why the confusion? It may be because both companies use similar marketing strategies.
For example, both Sierra and TJ Maxx often run ads that feature images of mountains or other outdoor scenes. And both companies use the slogan “Maxx life.”
There are also some similarities between the two companies’ stores. Both sell a mix of apparel, home goods, and other items.
