Aldi and Lidl are two of the most popular budget Supermarkets in the UK. But are they owned by brothers?
Aldi is a German discount supermarket chain founded by brothers Karl and Theo Albrecht in 1946. The company has since grown to become one of the largest retailers in the world, with over 10,000 stores in 18 countries.
Lidl is also a German discount supermarket chain, founded by Dieter Schwarz in 1973. Schwarz was not related to the Albrecht brothers, and so Lidl is not owned by Aldi. However, both companies are part of the Schwarz Group, which is the largest retailer in Europe.
So while Aldi and Lidl may be similar in many ways, they are not owned by the same people.
