Wendy’s is an American fast food restaurant chain founded by Dave Thomas on November 15, 1969, in Columbus, Ohio. The company moved its headquarters to Dublin, Ohio, on January 29, 2006. As of December 31, 2018, Wendy’s was the world’s third-largest hamburger fast-food chain with 6,711 locations, following Burger King and McDonald’s. On April 24, 2008, the company announced a merger with Triarc Companies Inc., a publicly traded company and the owner of Arby’s.

Despite the new ownership, Wendy’s headquarters remained in Dublin. Following the merger, Triarc became known as Wendy’s/Arby’s Group, Inc., a publicly traded company.

The chain is known for its square hamburgers, sea salt fries, and Frosty milkshakes. Since 1997, Wendy’s has used the slogan “You know when it’s real.”

In March 2019, Wendy’s announced that it would be rolling out a new Spicy Chicken Sandwich to all of its locations nationwide by early May. The sandwich features a spicy marinated chicken breast filet with crisp lettuce and mayo on a toasted bun.

On May 8th, 2019 Wendy’s officially released their new Spicy Chicken Sandwich nationwide.
