Asda is a British supermarket chain that sells food, clothing, general merchandise, toys, and financial services. It has over 600 stores in the United Kingdom, and is the second-largest retailer in the country.
Asda was founded in 1965 by a group of farmers from Yorkshire. The name “Asda” is an abbreviation of “Asquith Dairy Farmers Association”, which was the name of the cooperative they formed. The company expanded rapidly in the 1970s and 1980s, and by the 1990s it was one of the largest Supermarkets in the country.
Asda has been owned by Walmart since 1999. Walmart is the largest retailer in the world, and Asda is its only subsidiary in the UK.
Asda sells a wide variety of products, including food, clothing, household items, and electronics. Amarula is a South African liqueur that is made from the fruit of the marula tree. It is not currently sold by Asda.
