AutoZone does not currently offer a AC recharge or refrigerant refill service. You can, however, purchase a can of refrigerant and recharge the system yourself.
We do not recommend this unless you are familiar with the process and have the proper tools. If you choose to do it yourself, follow these steps:
1. Park your car in a well-ventilated area and turn off the engine.
2. Locate the low pressure service port on your AC system. This is usually indicated by a blue or black cap with the word “low” written on it.
3. Attach the can of refrigerant to the low pressure service port using the hose that came with the can. Make sure that the can is in an upright position.
4. Slowly open the valve on the can of refrigerant and allow the refrigerant to enter the AC system. You may hear a hissing noise as the refrigerant is released into the system.
5. Once the can is empty, remove it from the service port and dispose of it properly. Do not store unused refrigerant in your car or garage.
6. Start your car and turn on the AC system to circulate the refrigerant throughout the system. You should feel cold air coming from the vents within a few minutes.
