In 2006, Albertsons was sold to Cerberus Capital Management, a private equity firm, for $9.4 billion. In 2015, Cerberus sold Albertsons to AB Acquisition LLC (ABA), a company jointly owned by Cerebus and Kimco Realty Corporation, for $15.8 billion.

ABA is the parent company of Albertsons Companies, Inc. (Albertsons). As of February 2019, Cerebus no longer owns any stake in Albertsons.
