Does Publix bake their cakes in store?

Publix is a grocery store chain headquartered in Lakeland, Florida. The company was founded in 1930 by George W. Jenkins and is currently the largest employee-owned grocery chain in the United States.

Publix operates over 1,200 stores in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina, Tennessee, and North Carolina.

Publix is well known for their delicious cakes which are often seen in the bakery section of their stores. While many people assume that Publix must bake their cakes in store, this is actually not the case.

Publix outsources the baking of their cakes to two different companies – Carvel and Mrs. Smith’s.

Carvel is a national ice cream chain that has been in business since 1934. The company is known for their signature ice cream cakes which are often found in Supermarkets across the country.

While Carvel does have their own bakeries, the company also bakes cakes for other businesses, including Publix.

Mrs. Smith’s is another national bakery that specializes in pies and cobblers. The company has been around since 1935 and currently has over 100 locations across the United States. Mrs. Smith’s also bakes cakes for other businesses, including Publix.

While it may come as a surprise to some, Publix actually outsources the baking of their cakes to two different companies – Carvel and Mrs. While Carvel and Mrs. Smith’s both have their own bakeries, they also bake cakes for other businesses, including Publix. This allows Publix to focus on what they do best – operating stores and providing excellent customer service – while still being able to offer delicious cakes to their customers.
