Does Smuckers own Dunkin Donuts?

On October 15, 2013, it was announced that Smuckers, a subsidiary of Hershey, had agreed to purchase Dunkin’ Donuts for $2.9 billion.

The deal was completed on February 3, 2014. The merger created the world’s largest doughnut company with a combined revenue of over $11 billion.

The deal raised some eyebrows because Dunkin’ Donuts is a much smaller company than Smucker’s. However, the two companies share a number of commonalities.

For instance, both Dunkin’ Donuts and Smucker’s are headquartered in the United States, both brands have a strong presence in international markets, and both companies are leaders in digital marketing.

So, does Smuckers own Dunkin’ Donuts? The answer is yes, but the merger does not change the fact that Dunkin’ Donuts is a independently operated business.
