How many Albertsons are left?

In 1926, Joe Albertson, a former Safeway executive, founded a self-service grocery store in Boise, Idaho. The first Albertsons had just eight employees and only offered canned goods and dry staples. Albertsons gradually expanded across the western United States, opening stores in Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming.

In 2015, Albertsons completed its merger with Safeway, creating the second-largest grocery chain in the United States with over 2,200 stores. Today, you can find an Albertsons in 37 states and Washington D.C.

As of 2019, there are 2,237 Albertsons stores across the United States.
