How old was Colonel Sanders when he founded KFC?

The Colonel, Harland Sanders, was born on November 13, 1887, in Henry County, Kentucky. He was a self-taught cook and began operating a small restaurant in Corbin, Kentucky, in 1917. In 1925, he opened his first KFC restaurant in Kentucky. Ten years later, in 1935, he opened his first franchise restaurant.

By 1960, there were over 1,000 KFC restaurants in the United States. In February 2014, Sanders was inducted into the Kentucky Heritage Council Hall of Fame. He died in February 1984.
