Asda has stopped selling Turkey Twizzlers, according to reports.
The popular frozen food item was taken off sale by the supermarket chain on Thursday, with some stores selling the last remaining packets for half price.
It is not yet known why Asda has stopped stocking the product, which is made by Bernard Matthews.
A spokesperson for the company said: “We are no longer stocking Turkey Twizzlers but can reassure our customers that we will continue to offer them a great range of alternative products.”
Turkey Twizzlers were first launched in 1991 and became a popular lunchtime treat for children.
In 2005, they were withdrawn from sale after it was revealed that they contained more than 60% fat.
They were relaunched in 2014 with a reduced fat content but were still high in salt and sugar.
It is not yet known why Asda has stopped stocking Turkey Twizzlers, but the move comes after the product was revealed to be high in salt and sugar. Asda has said that it will continue to offer customers a great range of alternative products.
