Is Asda more expensive than Aldi?

Asda and Aldi are two of the biggest supermarket chains in the UK. Both offer a wide range of products at competitive prices. So, which is cheaper?

To compare the prices of Asda and Aldi, we took a basket of eight common grocery items and priced them at both Supermarkets. The items were:

  • 1 litre of milk
  • 12 eggs
  • 500g of bread flour
  • 2 chicken breasts
  • 200g of cheddar cheese
  • 4 apples
  • 1 bunch of bananas
  • 1 tube of toothpaste

The Results:

Asda was cheaper than Aldi for six out of the eight items. The two items that were cheaper at Aldi were the chicken breasts and the toothpaste. Overall, Asda was £2.52 cheaper than Aldi.

Based on our price comparison, we believe that Asda is generally cheaper than Aldi.
