Is Lidl coming to Maryland?

Lidl, the German discount grocery chain, is expanding to the United States and plans to open its first stores on the East Coast, including Maryland. The company has not yet announced where its stores will be located, but it is looking at sites in Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Carroll, Harford and Howard counties.

Lidl is known for its low prices and wide selection of both food and non-food items. The company has more than 10,000 stores in 27 countries and plans to open 100 stores on the East Coast by mid-2018.

Lidl’s expansion into the United States is part of a larger trend of European grocery chains entering the American market. Aldi, another German discount grocery chain, has been expanding rapidly in the United States in recent years and now has more than 1,600 stores.

Other European grocery chains such as Lidl’s competitor Rewe Group and Tesco’s Fresh & Easy have also been trying to enter the American market, but with mixed results.

So far, Lidl’s expansion into the United States has been fairly successful. The company opened its first 20 stores on the East Coast in June 2017 and has plans to open 100 more by mid-2018. Lidl is also planning to expand into other parts of the country, including the Midwest and Southeast.
