Lidl, the German discount grocery chain, is expanding its U.S. footprint with a new store in Pompton Lakes, N.J.

This will be the first Lidl store in New Jersey, and the company plans to open 100 stores across the East Coast over the next several years. Lidl entered the U. market in 2017 with stores in Virginia and North Carolina.

The new Pompton Lakes store is scheduled to open in 2019. It will be located at 611 Wanaque Ave., in a former A&P grocery store. The store will be about 36,000 square feet, and will offer Lidl’s signature “10 items or less” checkout lanes.

Lidl is known for its low prices and private label products. The company also offers a wide selection of fresh produce, meat and seafood, baked goods, and non-food items such as health and beauty products and household goods.
