Is the first KFC still open?

The first Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) restaurant opened on May 15, 1902, in Corbin, Kentucky. The founders of the restaurant, Harry and Harland D. Sanders, were former traveling salesmen. The restaurant was a huge success and quickly became known as the ” birthplace of the chicken wing.” Over the years, KFC has opened more than 36,000 restaurants around the world. The first KFC restaurant in the United States closed in 1985, but the company continues to operate hundreds of restaurants in the country.

The first KFC restaurant in China opened in 1987. As of 2016, KFC was the world’s second largest fast food restaurant chain with more than 10,000 restaurants in over 100 countries. The company is currently owned by franchisees. Despite recent health concerns raised by the American public about the quality of KFC’s food, the company continues to be a massive success. The original KFC restaurant in Corbin, Kentucky, is still open and serves as the company’s museum.
