TJX Companies, Inc. is an American multinational off-price department store chain, headquartered in Framingham, Massachusetts. As of February 3, 2019, TJX operated a total of 4,237 stores in nine countries: the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, Poland, Austria, Australia and New Zealand.
In 2018, it was the largest global apparel retailer. TJX’s stores sell brand name and designer merchandise at lower prices than most other retailers due to buying from manufacturers at lower costs and selling in large volumes.
TJ Maxx is an American department store chain owned by TJX Companies. With more than 1,000 stores nationwide, TJ Maxx is a major retail competitor of other off-price department stores such as Ross Dress for Less and Burlington Coat Factory.
While TJX Companies owns several different retail chains, TJ Maxx is by far the most well-known. In fact, many people often refer to all of TJX Companies’ stores as “TJ Maxx”, when in reality there are several different store names under the TJX umbrella.
So while TJX Companies is the parent company that owns TJ Maxx (among other stores), they are not one and the same.
In conclusion, while TJX Companies owns both TJ Maxx and other retail chains, they are not the same store. Each store has its own individual name and focus.
