Wendy’s is a fast food restaurant chain founded in Ohio, United States in 1969. As of 2016, Wendy’s was the world’s third largest hamburger fast food chain with 6,537 locations, following Burger King and McDonald’s. More than half of its restaurants are located in North America. Wendy’s menu consists primarily of hamburgers, chicken sandwiches, salads, french fries, soft drinks, and desserts.
In 2015, Wendy’s was ranked the “second most positive brand” on the American Customer Satisfaction Index.
In addition to its signature square hamburgers (made with fresh ground beef rather than pre-formed patties), Wendy’s menu includes chili, baked potatoes, french fries, Chicken Tenders (introduced in 1988), salads, soft drinks, Frosty desserts (introduced in 1969), and the Superbar line of salads and chili.
On November 15, 2016, it was announced that Wendy’s would be expanding to the United Kingdom and Ireland. The first restaurant is set to open in 2019 in Reading.
