What happened to American Airlines Arena?

The American Airlines Arena, formerly known as the Reunion Arena, is a sports and entertainment venue in Dallas, Texas, United States. The arena hosted the 1993 NBA All-Star Game, the 1996 and 2000 NBA Finals, the 2002 NHL All-Star Game, the 2005 NBA All-Star Game, and the 2011 NBA All-Star Game.

The arena also hosted the 1994 Men’s Professional Volleyball Association (MPVA) Men’s Final Four, the 1999 Men’s Final Four, the 2007 Men’s Final Four, and the 2011 Men’s College World Series.

The Dallas Mavericks played their first three seasons in the American Airlines Arena from 1971 to 1973. The Dallas Stars played their first season in the American Airlines Arena in 1993.

The Dallas Rockets played their last season in the American Airlines Arena in 1997.

The American Airlines Arena was the primary location for the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks from 1971-1973, the Dallas Stars from 1993-1997, and the Dallas Rockets from 1997-2011. In 2012, the Mavericks moved to the new American Airlines Center.

The American Airlines Arena was the primary location for the NHL’s Dallas Stars from 1993-1997. The Stars then moved to the new American Airlines Center.

The American Airlines Arena was the primary location for the MPVA’s Men’s Final Four from 1994-1997. The Men’s College World Series then moved to new TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha, Nebraska.
