When it comes to individual items, Asda was cheaper than Tesco on 32 out of 55 items. The biggest price differences were on a litre of semi-skimmed milk (£1.09 at Asda, £1.19 at Tesco), a dozen large free-range eggs (£1.75 at Asda, £2.50 at Tesco) and a 500g bag ofbasmati rice (£1 at Asda, £1.50 at Tesco).
Asda also had 10 items that were 10% cheaper than at Tesco, while Tesco had just four.
