Publix is an American supermarket chain headquartered in Lakeland, Florida. Founded in 1930 by George W. Jenkins, Publix is a private corporation that is wholly owned by current and former employees.
It is considered the largest employee-owned company in the world. Publix operates throughout the southeastern United States, with locations in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia.
The company’s slogan is “Where shopping is a pleasure.” The slogan was created in 1979 by an advertising agency hired by Publix. It replaced the former slogan “Publix.. where shopping is a pleasure.”
