We’re a privately held company, owned by our employees.
We first opened our doors in 1967, in Pasadena, California.
Our founder, Joe Coulombe, started with a small neighborhood store and a vision to bring interesting foods and beverages from all over the world to his customers at great prices. We’ve grown quite a bit since then. We now have over 450 stores in 41 states and Washington, D.C.
Where are most Trader Joe’s locations?
The vast majority of our stores are on the West Coast or in the Northeast. But we’ve also got stores in the South, the Midwest, and even Canada!
Our Crew Members come from all walks of life and share just one commonality: they genuinely enjoy helping others — and they do it with smiles on their faces (even when it’s raining outside).
