Who got the USPS contract?

A USPS contract to deliver mail in the United States was awarded to a private company, United Parcel Service (UPS), in 1997. The contract was extended in 2006 and 2011. The contract was renewed in 2015.

Reasons for the USPS decision to award the contract to UPS have been cited as the privatization of the mail service, the increasing use of electronic mail, and the need to compete with private delivery services. The contract has been criticized for its high cost and the decreased quality of service.
