Asda and Tesco are two of the biggest Supermarkets in the UK. They both have a large number of stores across the country, and a huge range of products. Asda is owned by Walmart, and Tesco is the largest retailer in the world.
So, who is bigger Asda or Tesco?
Well, it depends how you measure it. If you look at the number of stores, Tesco has around 3,400 stores in the UK, while Asda has around 600.
So Tesco is clearly bigger in terms of store numbers. However, Asda’s stores are usually much larger than Tesco’s, so they can offer a wider range of products.
In terms of revenue, Tesco is again ahead of Asda. In 2017/18, Tesco had revenue of £51.8 billion, while Asda had revenue of £22.9 billion. So Tesco is almost twice as big as Asda in terms of revenue.
However, Walmart is much bigger than Tesco. In 2017/18, Walmart had revenue of $500 billion (£390 billion), while Tesco had revenue of £51.8 billion. So Walmart is almost 10 times bigger than Tesco!
So it depends how you measure it, but in general we can say that Tesco is bigger than Asda.
