Why is Walmart selling Asda?

As the biggest retailer in the world, Walmart is always looking for ways to grow its business. One way it has done this is by acquiring other companies.

In 1999, Walmart acquired Asda, a British supermarket chain, for $10.8 billion. Asda is the second largest supermarket chain in the UK, with more than 600 stores.

Walmart has been successful in growing its business by acquiring other companies. In 2010, it acquired a majority stake in Massmart, a South African retail chain. This has given Walmart a strong presence in Africa.

Walmart’s acquisition of Asda has been good for both companies. Asda has benefited from Walmart’s expertise in logistics and supply chain management. Walmart has been able to grow its international business by acquiring a company with a strong presence in Europe.
