Will Albertsons pay a dividend?

Albertsons Companies, Inc. is an American grocery company founded and headquartered in Boise, Idaho. It is the second-largest supermarket chain in the United States after Kroger, with 2,252 stores across 35 states and the District of Columbia as of February 2020. The company also owns and operates the Jewel-Osco, Acme Markets, Shaw’s and Star Market grocery chains.

On March 18, 2020, Albertsons Companies announced that it would be suspending its dividend payments to shareholders indefinitely in order to help weather the economic fallout from the COVID-19 pandemic.

The move was a precautionary measure taken in response to the significant impact that the pandemic has had on global markets and the economy. Albertsons Companies is not alone in suspending its dividend payments; many other companies have taken similar measures in recent weeks.

While it is unclear how long Albertsons Companies will suspension its dividend payments, the move is a necessary one in order to help the company weather this unprecedented time of uncertainty.
