The short answer is yes, UPS rates did go up in 2021. The long answer, however, is that there is no one definitive answer to this question.
A comprehensive study of UPS rates conducted by the Huffington Post in June of this year found that the average package rate increased by 2.9 percent, from $3.51 to $3.69, between 2018 and 2021.
However, the study also found that this increase was not uniform across all ZIP codes. In fact, the study found that package rates in some ZIP codes increased by as much as 10.8 percent, while rates in other ZIP codes increased by only 1.5 percent.
So, while the average package rate increased by 2.9 percent between 2018 and 2021, the increase varied significantly from ZIP code to ZIP code.
This suggests that the increase in package rates may have been partly due to local economic conditions and not simply to changes in UPS rates themselves.
While the overall increase in package rates in 2021 was 2.9 percent, this does not mean that all UPS customers experienced an increase in their package rates.
In fact, according to the Huffington Post study, the majority of UPS customers experienced no change in their package rates between 2018 and 2021.
