Albertsons is an American supermarket chain with 2,200 stores across the United States. It is the second-largest grocery store chain in the nation after Kroger. The company was founded in Boise, Idaho in 1939 by Joe Albertson.
The chain has stores in 35 states, with the majority of locations in California, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Texas, and Washington. Albertsons does not have any stores in Florida.
The company has been ranked as the 21st largest private company in the United States by Forbes. In 2015, it had an annual revenue of $21.8 billion. Albertsons is owned by a consortium of investors led by Cerberus Capital Management.
