Aldi’s, the German discount supermarket chain, has been expanding rapidly in recent years. In 2017 alone, the company added more than 1,000 new stores worldwide.
But Aldi isn’t just growing in size; it’s also becoming more popular with shoppers. In fact, a recent study found that Aldi is now the fifth most popular grocery store in the United States.
So does Aldi’s own Lidl?
The answer is no. Lidl is a separate company that is also based in Germany. However, the two companies are fierce competitors in the discount grocery market.
Aldi has long been known for its low prices, but it has also been criticized for its no-frills approach to shopping. There are no fancy displays or customer service representatives at Aldi stores; instead, shoppers are expected to bag their own groceries and return their shopping carts to the front of the store when they’re finished.
