Animal abuse is a huge problem in the United States. Over two million animals are abused each year, and Petco is one of the biggest offenders.
Petco has been cited for animal abuse numerous times. In 2015, they were fined $13,000 for violating the Animal Welfare Act. The following year, they were fined again, this time for $8,300.
There have been many reports of animal abuse at Petco stores across the country. In one instance, a dog was left outside in the cold for hours and eventually died. In another, a fish was found dead in a tank that had not been cleaned in months.
