What plastic can I recycle at Tesco?

In the UK, we use over 5 million tonnes of plastic every year – that’s enough to fill over 300,000 Olympic sized swimming pools!

Plastic is fantastic stuff. It’s durable, light and versatile.

But it’s also a big problem. Every year, around 8 million tonnes of plastic leaks into our oceans – that’s the equivalent of one rubbish truck full of plastic every minute!

So what can we do about it? One way is to recycle more plastic. And that’s where Tesco comes in.

At Tesco, we’re committed to helping our customers reduce their plastic footprint. That’s why we’ve introduced a new recycling service for plastic bottles, pots, tubs and trays.

Now, when you’re next in store, you can recycle any clean and empty plastic packaging from products sold at Tesco. Just pop it into one of our special recycling bins and we’ll take care of the rest.

We’ll make sure it’s recycled properly so that it can be made into new products – like benches, plant pots or even recycled packaging for new Tesco products.

So next time you’re doing your shop at Tesco, remember to recycle your plastic packaging and help us to cut down on ocean pollution.
