What three states have no Big Lots?

There are currently three states in the United States that do not have any Big Lots stores. These states are Alaska, Hawaii, and Vermont. The reason for this is most likely due to the fact that Big Lots is a discount retailer that specializes in selling closeout merchandise.

Because of this, the company has a smaller profit margin than other retailers and can only afford to open stores in states with high population densities. Additionally, Big Lots often opens stores in strip malls or shopping centers that are already anchored by another store. This means that the company has to compete with other retailers for foot traffic, which can be difficult in states with large rural populations.

So, while it may be surprising to some, the fact that there are no Big Lots stores in Alaska, Hawaii, or Vermont is actually not all that surprising when you consider the company’s business model. Hopefully someday soon Big Lots will be able to expand into these states and provide their residents with access to their unique brand of discount shopping.
