There’s no question that when it comes to auto parts stores, AutoZone and Advance Auto Parts are two of the biggest names in the business. But which one is bigger?
In terms of overall revenue, AutoZone is the clear winner. In 2018, the company reported sales of $11.4 billion compared to Advance Auto Parts’ $9.5 billion.
But it’s not just total revenue that matters – it’s also profitability. Here, too, AutoZone comes out ahead, with a net income of $773 million compared to Advance Auto Parts’ $604 million.
In terms of store count, Advance Auto Parts has the edge, with over 5,000 locations in the U.S. compared to AutoZone’s 4,688. But when it comes to market share, AutoZone is number one, with a 17 percent share compared to Advance Auto Parts’ 12 percent.
So which is bigger – AutoZone or Advance Auto Parts? It depends on how you measure it, but overall, AutoZone comes out ahead.
