The story of Newberg Ace Hardware begins in 1912, when Charles and Lillian Stine opened a hardware store on First Street in downtown Newberg. The Stines were successful from the start, and within a few years they had outgrown their original location. They moved to a larger space on Ferry Street, where they continued to serve the community for many years.
In the early 1940s, the Stines sold the business to Carl and Dorothy Anderson. The Andersons ran the store for nearly two decades before selling it to Bill and Annabelle Jones in 1961.
The Joneses owned and operated the store until retirement in 1984.
When the Joneses retired, they sold the business to Bob and Pat Riggs. The Riggses had been customers of the store for many years, and they were excited to continue its tradition of serving the community. They owned and operated the store until their retirement in 2004.
After the Riggses retired, Newberg Ace Hardware was purchased by current owners Dave and Susan Gorman. The Gormans are committed to continuing the tradition of excellent customer service that has been a hallmark of Newberg Ace Hardware for over 100 years.
