Why do restaurants disappear from DoorDash?

According to a study by The Wall Street Journal, DoorDash’s main competitor, UberEats, is responsible for the disappearance of some restaurant businesses from the food delivery platform. The WSJ report found that UberEats is more effective at gaining and retaining customers, leading to the closure of some restaurants who couldn’t keep up.

UberEats has also been accused of using aggressive tactics to get restaurants to sign up, such as threatening to cancel their orders if they didn’t sign up. This has caused some restaurants to feel pressured into joining, even if they didn’t want to, which can lead to them struggling to keep up.

DoorDash has responded to the WSJ report by stating that they work hard to keep restaurants on the platform and that they have a “multi-faceted” retention strategy. They also claim that most restaurants who leave DoorDash do so because they don’t meet the company’s high standards, not because of UberEats.
