Is Lidl coming to Baltimore?

It’s beenrumored that German discount grocery chain Lidl is planning to open stores in the Baltimore area. The company has not confirmed these rumors, but if they are true, it would be a big coup for Baltimore, which has been struggling to attract quality grocery stores.

Lidl has been aggressively expanding in the United States in recent years, opening its first stores in 2017. The company now has over 70 stores in nine states, including Maryland. Lidl is known for its low prices and wide selection of both food and non-food items.

Baltimore would be a logical choice for Lidl’s expansion plans. The city has a large population and is within driving distance of several major metropolitan areas. Lidl would also benefit from the city’s large student population.

If Lidl does come to Baltimore, it will be competition for existing grocery chains like Wegmans and Giant. But it will also be a welcome addition to the city’s retail landscape.
