Advance Auto Parts is one of the largest automotive aftermarket parts retailers in the United States. Headquartered in Roanoke, Virginia, Advance Auto Parts operates over 5,200 stores across the United States, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands.
As of October 2015, Advance Auto Parts is the second-largest retailer of automotive parts and accessories in the United States.
The company was founded in 1932 by Richard E. Jacobs and Arthur Taubman as Advance Stores. The name was changed to Advance Auto Parts in 1957.
In 2012, Advance Auto Parts acquired GeneralParts International, Inc., a leading North American distributor of original equipment and collision replacement products, from Carlyle Group for $2.04 billion in cash.
The current vice president of Advance Auto Parts is Tom Greco. Tom Greco has served as our President and Chief Executive Officer since September 2014 and as a member of our Board since July 2013. Mr. Greco served as President and Chief Operating Officer of RadioShack Corporation from February 2011 to July 2013.
