Why did McDonald’s stop using Ronald McDonald?

McDonald’s Ronald McDonald was first introduced in 1967, and has since been a staple in the fast food industry. However, over the years McDonald’s has had to make changes to keep up with changing trends, and Ronald McDonald has been one of the casualties.

In recent years, there has been a growing movement to boycott McDonald’s because of the company’s involvement in the fast food industry, and Ronald McDonald has been a main Target. In 2013, McDonald’s announced that it would stop using Ronald McDonald in its advertising and marketing materials, and that it would instead focus on its new Happy Meal characters.

McDonald’s stated that the decision to stop using Ronald McDonald was made because he is not a “core character” of the company, and because he is not relevant to the Happy Meal characters. However, some believe that McDonald’s decision was motivated by the growing movement against the company, and that Ronald McDonald was dropped because he is associated with the negative image of the fast food industry.
